XL’s Featured Tribe’s Men: Micheal D
1.What are your biggest fashion obstacles?
My biggest fashion obstacles are not having 365 suits and sport coats. (1 for every day of the week), and also finding jeans. I have the hardest time finding jeans that fit my waist and thighs, that don’t resemble dad jeans.
2.Where are you from and what are biggest fashion trends in your city?
I am from the very small town of Robersonville. Nope! You’ve never heard of it. Less than 1000 folk, everyone knows everybody. That kind of town. Very quiet town. A city that definitely sleeps. The biggest fashion trends in my city……hmmmmm. Let me think. We are not quite a fashion conscious city but we are on our way there, between jogging pants, t-shirts and sneakers, we are well on our way to becoming the next fashion Mecca of the world. (Inserts sarcasm and Laughs)
3.What would you say is your biggest fashion miss? (attach a picture if you can)
I have had quite a few of those. I mean PLEN-TTYY. My biggest was New Years Eve 2007. I was 16, and was trying to find my own style. At that time I loved loved loved to dress up. I dressed up every chance I could. This particular night, we were headed to New Years service and I desperately wanted to dress up. I wore this horrible, and too big Steve and Barry’s blazer. (Whatever happened to them anyway?), an argyle sweater from there, with navy cotton slacks, a bow tie made out of tie, and these wicked, and overly exaggerated dress shoes. Horrible. When I look back at the photo, I chuckle because I was trying so hard at 16, and now I look at 16 year olds and those young dudes are fly!!
4.What are some of your biggest style?
My biggest style is classic with a modern spin. I still enjoy glen plaids, tweeds, wools, ascots, pocket squares, braces, hats, ETC. I’m really inspired by the 1930s-1960s menswear. I’m addicted to black watch plaid, and camo. Weird right? Another one of my biggest style is tailored wear. I love suits and sport coats and having the ability to dress as a gentleman. As a hefty man, wearing a third piece is highly important for completing my look and drawing attention away from areas of concern such as my belly. Haha.
