XL’s Featured Tribe Men Of The Week Quinn Mason
1. What are your biggest fashion obstacles?
For me, that would be alterations. Nearly everything I purchase must be altered due to my body type. So no matter how great the sale is, I still have to budget for alterations. A good fit is a must!
2. Where are you from and how you describe your style?
I am a native of Raleigh, North Carolina. I’d describe my style as a combination of stately, timeless, distinguished, while unique. My closet options range from custom-made suits, shirts and pocket squares to African & Indian-inspired attire to casual attire from brim to footwear. I believe that image is everything, and in the words of YSL – “Fashions fade, style is eternal.”
3. Tell us about your biggest fashion nightmare and if it came true do explain. (attach a picture if you can)
My biggest fashion nightmare is seeing an ensemble that includes: a suit with the tag still attached on the sleeve, ill-tailored fit, overly-accessorized, with everything matching to a T (designs and colors) closed out with less than optimal footwear (a.k.a. run-over shoes). Yikes! Although it hasn’t come true for me, I have seen it in real life. But that’s what I’m here for – allow me to be of service to rescue you from this fashion nightmare! 🙂
5. Where do you see yourself in five years and how do you see yourself accomplishing it?
I envision myself as a stylist to those of great influence, providing image consultation services to sports agencies, and perhaps working as a trusted fashion advisor within the entertainment industry. I see my line of accessories, the Quinn Mason Collection, as a globally prominent and established brand! All while serving my family, friends and even young men who don’t have access to image assistance and guidance. I am convinced that with prayer, faith, hard work, and determination I WILL accomplish these things!
6. What do you feel is missing in fashion for the men of size?
What’s present is the thinking that men of size cannot be as fashionable as men of the “standard”. What’s missing are clothing options that are currently produced for “standard” gentlemen, made available for men of size. Don’t try and compare, just provide it and leave it up to the XL gang to ingratiate the ensemble across this community of fashion savvy men.
7. If you could swap styles with one celebrity who would it be and why?
Probably Chadwick Boseman. I can step outside the box at times, but to step into a another dimension is something completely different. His casual style is eclectic and would be something I normally wouldn’t do. From the garb to the hairstyles…his fashion boldness is something to admire.
