XL’s Featured Tribe Men Of The Week Sid Burgos
1. What are your biggest fashion obstacles?
For me the biggest obstacles are my shoulders. They are very broad shoulders so when buying suits with generic sizing, the larger the jacket size, the larger the pants size. More often than not, the pants are too big for me but aren’t interchangeable so I have to return everything. Shopping online is generally a hassle having to return items due to an improper fit.
2. Where are you from and how you describe your style?
I’m from NYC, born, raised and reside in The Bronx. I would define my style as “t-shirt and go.” Comfort is at the forefront of my fashion choices. I’m constantly on the go and travel extensively for work so my clothes need to be as flexible as my schedule.
3. Tell us about your biggest fashion nightmare and if it came true do explain. (attach a picture if you can).
Not long ago I was emceeing a wedding and while hyping up the crowd during a dance circle I did a split. Well, I also slit my pants! Thankfully my suit was black and I was wearing dark briefs so not one noticed. After everyone filled the circle I ran to the DJ booth grabbed some gaff tape and went to the bathroom and patched up the hole because I had 2 more hours of partying to do.
4.What are somethings you wanna see more of from your favorite brands?
I noticed within the last few years that brands are pushing to showcase more of the everyday person. Not just the elite body types or the perfectly symmetrical faces but the average person who truly buys their brand. I used to model in my youth but now that I’m older I’m a huge supporter of the body positive and dad bod movements.
5.Where do you see yourself in five years and how do you see yourself accomplishing it?
Honestly, I’m at a great place in my life but my goals for the next 5 years are to continue enrich my children lives and support their passions. My daughter is a budding photographer/videographer and my boys are adventurers. I recently started the #SIDmintureVlog where I do 1 minute highlight videos of my travels and adventures around the country. My goal is to show them that there’s more to this world then what’s in their neighborhood or what their school teaches them.
6.How long have you been on the journey of being a Big & Tall man? What’s the biggest misconception you hear about Big & Tall Guys? The biggest misconception of being Big & Tall is the label. It doesn’t mean you’re superhuman or different then the average man. It matters not of our size but who we are as an individuals. We all need love, affection, attention and understanding. It’s just that some of us need a little more elastic.
7.If you could swap styles with one celebrity who would it be and why?
First to mind is David Beckham, they guy is the epitome of cool. There’s nothing extravagant in what he wears but how he wears it defines his smoothness.
