XL’s Featured Tribesmen Of The Week Devontea Lovings

In this weeks XL’s Featured Tribesmen Of The Week, Devontea Lovings talks about his style, where’s is from and more.

What are some of your biggest fashion obstacles?

My biggest fashion obstacle would be finding clothes that fit comfortably but are fashionable as well in common clothing stores instead of having to special order items or go online. There is nothing more frustrating than ordering online and it’s not true to size, or finding something in the store that you truly love but then it doesn’t fit comfortably.

2. Where are you from and how you describe your style?

I’m from Houston, Texas and I would describe my style as high profile urban or top tier street wear. I definitely consider myself to be versatile, somedays I feel like sneakers and joggers other days I feel like dressing up.

3. Tell us about your biggest fashion nightmare and if it came true do explain. (attach a picture if you can)

To be quite honest, I’m a very resilient and confident individual so I don’t see anything that could happen that I can’t recover from or make do in the situation.

4.Have any of your 2019 goals come true?

I am back in school, I’m in the process of relaunching my mentoring program for high school students, I’m in a flourishing relationship, and I’m growing stronger and wiser as a MAN so to answer your question yes.

5. Where do you see yourself in five years and how do you see yourself accomplishing it?

In five years, I see myself as a teacher and continuing to mentor young teens. I see myself accomplishing those goals by overcoming the obstacles that come my way, staying focused and constantly pushing myself. I found that It’s easy to lose sight of things that your passionate about when it’s out of your control. However in this growing process I’m learning to keep my faith and mindset to succeed first then everything else will follow.

6. How long have you been on the journey of being a Big & Tall man? What’s the biggest misconception you hear about Big & Tall Guys?

I’m not tall at ALL, but I have struggled with my weight my entire life. It haven’t been until the last four or five years that I’ve started to come into the guy that I am today. A big misconception is that larger people don’t have style, that they’re not confident or that they can’t “dress”, they’re sloppy. Honestly, the list can go on and on about common misconceptions in the fashion world with larger people. I am living proof that those misconceptions are not true. I’m a bigger guy who’s confident, I know bigger guys who are confident who OWN everything they do or put on.

7.If you could swap styles with one celebrity who would it be and why?

If I could swap styles with one celebrity then it would have to be DJ Khaled. DJ Khaled exudes confidence in everything that he does and puts on. He’s so swaggy man, and I admire the fact that he can switch it up. He can rock jays and a jersey and then throw a suit and loafers at you. Dope Guy!
