XL’s Featured Tribe Men Of The Week Jeremey Burnett
1. What are your biggest fashion obstacles?
Finding the appropriate size for my body type being that I’m a 48-52 waist and a 34L I’m tall and curvy for a male. Also finding shoes that aren’t incredibly expensive due to my shoe size being a 13.5-14
2. Where are you from and how do you describe your style?
I’m from Saint Louis, MO, and my style I’d say is nerdy chic/urban casual.
3. Tell us about your biggest fashion nightmare and if it came true do explain. (attach a picture if you can)
My biggest fashion nightmare was when I used to wear too small graphic tees and pants. A lot of my clothes were ill-fitting because I didn’t know how to dress for my body type. Which resulted in a lot of WAY TOO SNUG t-shirts and pants. FORTUNATELY, there’s no record of that lmfao ?
4.What are some things you wanna see more of from your favorite brands?
I want to see more fabrics, colors, and prints being played with especially for bigger men. A lot of fashion brands love creating a lot of muted and earth tone colored clothing to help you mask your size. But I’m ok with my size I don’t want to mask it. I want to experiment with different colors, patterns, and prints like my skinnier counterparts
5.Where do you see yourself in five years and how do you see yourself accomplishing it?
I see myself with a full skin care line and working in the STEM field. I see myself accomplishing it by studying others brands, using completely organic, and non animal tested ingredients, having closed testing sessions, and researching my favorite black skin care companies to learn what works best and applying my own je ne sais quoi.
6.What do you feel is missing in fashion for the men of size?
Actually catering to black men body types who are curvier or have athletic football player builds. As a black man with a large butt, and thighs it makes it incredibly difficult to find pants and other shape flattering tops to compliment my figure. Also I truly dislike how so many independent designers create and craft all these amazing outfits and apparel for smaller men but ALWAYS leave out bigger men.
7.If you could swap styles with one celebrity who would it be and why?
Probably Fabulous. He’s always fly and he dresses in his own way. He doesn’t always have on designers or labels (but most of the time he does). Him and (potentially his team) always puts together some fantastic outfit selections for him. I like that he pairs alot of his high fashion apparel with classic sneakers and shoes.
